1. Transparent iron oxide pigment

Ferrotx is a Changyuan's brand name of transparent iron oxide pigment.
Iron oxide pigments with an average particle size of less than 100nm known as transparent iron oxide because they do not scatter light. Alternatively to size, the specific surface is also often used to as a measure, powders with specific BET surface more than 80m²/g generally be regarded as transparent. Ferrotx is a strong absorber of UV radiation, it provides additional protection for the wood varnish for exterior uses and automotive effect finishes.

As an inorganic pigment, Ferrotx pigment has very good heat stability from 160°C-300°C. and also has excellent chemical stability, acid-resistance, alkaline-resistance to widely used as colorants both in solvent and water systems. There are four key roles in wood and automotive coatings: excellent transparency, weatherfastness, economy, and UV absorption.

Application of Transparent iron oxide

1.Automotive paints
Transparent iron oxides are most commonly used in combination with micaceous or aluminum flakes to produce metallic effect finishes for automobiles. In current automotive styling formulations, depth of shade and transparency are of critical importance. Not only can transparent iron oxides meet these coloristic requirements, but also they are weatherable, low in cost and offer attractive UV absorption characteristics. Gold, brass or bronze finishes can be achieved when applying transparent iron oxides on metal handles, knobs, or wheels.

2. Wood coatings
The high durability, UV screen weatherfastness of transparent iron oxides make them the natural choice for wood stains and furniture finishes. They are resistant to acids, alkalis and solvents, and non-bleeding/non-migratory. Transparent iron oxides offer higher UV protection.

3. Plastics application
The advantages of Ferrotx transparent iron oxide, for example, excellent transparency, UV absorption and chemical stability are widely taken in plastics industry such as masterbatch, UV absorber for protecting the goods in container from radiation.

4. Interior and exterior emulsion paints
High weatherfastness and low heavy metals content are the key reasons that Ferrotx transparent iron oxide widely used in interior and exterior emulsion paints.
